The Old Believers' community of Jēkabpils, together with the Baltic Old Believers' Society, offers all interested persons, regardless of age and religious affiliation, to get acquainted with the project "Historical Orientation Route "Following the Footsteps of the Founders of Jēkabpils"" within the framework of the State Culture Capital Foundation target programme "Latvian Historical Lands Development Programme" project competition "Selija Culture Programme 2023"!

The main goal of the project is to enable everyone to learn more about the Old Believers' culture in Latvia and to get to know the Old Believers themselves, their life views and character traits. The project also aims to dispel various stereotypes that have been floating around for years, creating misconceptions about Old Believers.
After the good work we have done in the summer, introducing the inhabitants and guests of Jēkabpils to the spiritual singing and fasting cuisine of the Old Believers, this time we invite everyone to meet on 23 December, at 11:00, at the Kena Park stage, to get acquainted with the Old Believers' living space. In a relaxed atmosphere we'd like to discuss together WHY? and HOW? Old Believers came to Latvia, more than 350 years ago! Programme duration - 2-2,5 hours. The walk will be led by Evgeny Anokhin, head of the Old Believers' community in Jēkabpils, and Dmitry Shchegolev, head of the Baltic Old Believers' Society. The language of the event is Latvian with Russian translation if necessary.

At the end of the walk, participants will enjoy a traditional Old Believer cold weather drink SBITEN and answers to any questions they may still have!
See you soon on 23 December at 11:00 at the Kena Park Stage in Jēkabpils!
